The line of SUVs went on sale in 2006 for model year 2007, and trim options over the years included SXT, SLT, R/T, SE, Heat, Detonator, and Shock. Notable model years include 2011, when a 4.0 lifestyle package became available for the Heat trim. Nitro itself was discontinued the same year, and the Dodge Journey mid-size crossover replaced it.
