Your engine needs clean motor oil running through it to operate properly. The thing is, even new motor oil has impurities in it. If they're allowed to run through your engine, they begin to collect on the various parts and impede efficient movement. Combine those with the other contaminants that the motor oil collects on its way through the engine, and you have potential for engine damage. That's where the original factory oil filter comes in. It catches those microscopic troublemakers as the oil courses through, so only clean oil returns to your engine to lubricate the various parts. In time, though, even a top-quality oil filter will break down or get clogged up.

Fortunately, you don't need to have your oil filter changed every time you get your oil changed. Your Mopar® service technician will advise you when your oil filter does need changing. On average, you'll want to change it with every other oil change. When it is time to change your oil filter, you want to make sure to use a genuine Mopar oil filter. These are the only filters guaranteed to be compatible with your model's engine, so you can be fully confident in their fit and performance. A generic oil filter may not form a tight enough seal, which can lead to leaks or even more significant engine trouble. Find the oil filters made for your car or SUV in our online inventory.
